Château TREYTINS 2018, Montagne Saint-Emilion : 88 - 90

Spice, underbrush, leather, and gamey fruits all emerge from the 2018 Château Treytins. It’s pretty and elegant on the palate, with moderate concentration yet a weightless, seamless texture. With good freshness and an already complex style, it’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 01/05/2019, USA

L'ANCIEN 2018 : 91 - 93

Black raspberry and cassis fruit, as well as plenty of spice, dominate the bouquet of the 2018 l’Ancien, and it’s layered, medium to full-bodied, and just beautiful on the palate. With ripe tannins, a building complexity, and a layered texture, this beauty of a Lalande de Pomerol knocks it out of the park.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 01/05/2019, USA

Château GARRAUD 2018 : 88 - 90

The 2018 Château Garraud reveals a more ruby/plum color to go with a smoky, spicy, red-fruited bouquet, a broad, rounded mouthfeel, medium to full body, and sweet tannins. It’s a charming, forward, balanced effort to drink over the coming decade.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 01/05/2019, USA

Château TREYTINS 2018, Lalande de Pomerol : Bronze Medal, 87 pts

Plums and prunes, touched by cabernet franks leafiness; Earthy and spicy finish.

London International Wine Challenge, 08/05/2019, UK

Château GARRAUD 2017 : Bronze Medal - 86 pts

Juicy plum and red forest fruit. Really pretty and floral, well balanced and with a hint of game. Rewarded with time.

London International Wine Challenge, 08/05/2019, UK

L'ANCIEN 2016 : 91 / 100

Dark ruby colour with a purple hue. Fragrant and layered nose with notes of coffee bean, mocha, fine oak, butterscotch and ripe dark fruit. Good density on the palate with high extract but ripe tannin, pure and savoury dark fruit with mild spices, pepper and liquorice, fine layers and a long finish. Well-built, should improve very well.

BLINDTASTED.COM, Andreas LARSSON, May 19, UK

Château GARRAUD 2012 : Bronze Medal

There are nice aromas of black fruits with sweet spice and a hint of rose petal. The palate follows with good cassis and plum fruit with a well-balanced finish.

Sommelierwineawards.com, 08/05/2019, UK

Château GARRAUD 2018 : 15,5 / 16,5

Michel Rolland has given this 2018 just the right amount of modernity. This comes through in the complex nose, a mixture of raspberry coulis and pastry overtones.  The palate is coated by a lovely textured tannin. One detects an elegant mineral weave.

Revue des Vins de France n° 632, Pierre Vila Palleja, june 2019, France

Château GARRAUD 2016 : 88 pts

A well-made, enjoyable Lalande-de-Pomerol, the 2016 Château Garraud offers plenty of tobacco and leafy herb notes as well as ample dark fruit, medium body, a rounded, opulent texture, and a great finish. It’s a classic Bordeaux as well as a sleeper in the vintage. It should drink nicely for 8-10 years.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 28/02/2019, USA

Château TREYTINS 2018, Montagne Saint-Emilion : 87/100

Soft, ripe raspberry and wild strawberry notes are here less intense than some of its peers in the vintage. It has fairly high oak notes - a little too much for this style of fruit in my opinion.

Decanter.com, Jane ANSON, 04/04/2019, UK

L'ANCIEN 2018 : 88/100

The Léon-Nony family own this Néac-based estate. It has heavy chocolate and liquorice notes in a contemporary, cocoa-dusted style. Pretty enjoyable, if a little overblown.

Decanter.com, Jane ANSON, 28/03/2019, UK

Château GARRAUD 2018 : 91/100

A Léon-Nony estate and, as with L'Ancien, nobody is going to be in any doubt that there's a touch of oak in the blend, but it's more balanced here. The Cabernets add some freshness and elegance to this good quality wine. It has great juice running through the cassis fruits, and a lovely gourmet twist of smoke to the finish.

Château GARRAUD 2018 : 90 - 91 pts

There’s a solid core of ripe fruit to this pretty and savory young wine. New wood shows, but the depth and interest is there with the attractive fruit and the balance of tannins and acidity.

Château GARRAUD 2017 : 86 - 88+

The 2017 Château Garraud has some potential. Black raspberries, underbrush, and Asian spice characteristics, medium body, fine tannin, and nicely integrated acidity and make for a charming, forward Lalande de Pomerol that’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate, yet also keep for 7-8 years.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 23/04/2018, USA

L'ANCIEN 2015 : 92/100

Dark ruby red colour. Fine and intense nose, modern dark fruit, fine oak, smoky notes and mocha. The palate is dense and weighty, still youthful but ripe tannin with lush fruit, a fresh backbone and a long spicy finish.

BLINDTASTED.COM, Andreas LARSSON, November 18, UK

L'ANCIEN 2014 : 90/100

Medium deep ruby red colour. A hint of new oak, sweet red berries, fine spices and mocha. Finely tuned palate, ripe tannin, still a young but rounded texture with fine oak, ripe red fruit, balanced freshness and a long finely spicy finish. Good drinkability already.

BLINDTASTED.COM, Andreas LARSSON, November 18, UK

Château GARRAUD 2015 : 90/100

Medium to deep ruby red colour. Fragrant and floral nose with rose petal, red berries, plum and mild spices. Good grip on the palate, rather full but rounded texture with fresh and digest red fruit, and a long and dense finish. Youthful but already good drinkability and balance.

BLINDTASTED.COM, Andreas LARSSON, November 18, UK

Château GARRAUD 2014 : 85/100

L'ANCIEN 2016 : 87/100

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color. The 2016 l’Ancien reveals lifted red and black cherries notes with underlying lavender, Provence herbs, tobacco and underbrush scents. Medium-bodied, the palate is delicately fruited with restrained, earthy flavors framed by chewy tannins, finishing a little grippy.

WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa PERROTTI, 30/11/2018, USA

Château GARRAUD 2016 : 90/100

The 2016 Garraud is medium to deep garnet-purple in color and delivers blackberry compote, plum preserves and cherry pie scants with touches of tilled soil and unsmoked cigars. Medium-bodied, the palate has a great intensity of black berry and earthy layers, textured by soft tannins and finishing with great length.

WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa PERROTTI, 30/11/2018, USA

Château GARRAUD 2017 : 13.5/20

Reductive, opens with the red fruit, soft and tender on the palate, without too much tannin, favouring the fruit.

L'ANCIEN 2017 : 14-14.5/20

Consultant Michel Rolland signed this small cuvée of only 1,000 bottles with a light stroke. This pure Merlot is designed to be fine, it is very much carried by the tangy red fruit, and built over a fine mineral frame.

Lots of black cherry, fruit cake, dried herbs, and a touch of earth all emerge from the 2015 Treytins, which is made with consulting advice from Michel Rolland. With fine tannin, medium-bodied richness, moderate acidity, and a character filled personality, it’s a gem from this small Saint-Emilion satellite appellation.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 30/11/2017, USA

L'ANCIEN 2015 : 90 pts

A killer little Lalande de Pomerol worth hunting down is the 2015 L’Ancien. Giving up impressive notes of black cherries, currants, dried herbs, and graphite, it’s medium-bodied, nicely concentrated and balanced. It has fine tannin, plenty of class, and should drink nicely for 7-8 years.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 30/11/2017, USA

Château GARRAUD 2015 : 88 pts

The 2015 Château Garraud is a ripe, rounded, medium-bodied Lalande de Pomerol offering plenty of ripe cherry fruit, notes of dried herbs, underbrush and spice, medium-bodied richness, and sweet tannin. It has plenty of charm and is certainly a solid wine that should last for a decade.

jebdunnuck.com, Jeb Dunnuck, 30/11/2017, USA

Château TREYTINS 2015, Lalande de Pomerol : Gold Medal - 88 pts

Château GARRAUD 2015 : Gold Medal - 87 pts

Deep ruby hue. Ripe nose showing plenty of fruit, hints of cherries and red currants along with a touch of oak.  A robust and fairly powerful wine on the palate with lovely oaky and liquorice-like notes. It has that austere character popular with many wine lovers.

Guide des Vins Gilbert & Gaillard 2019, France

Château GARRAUD 2015 :

This is not a micro-cuvée, but from the production of one of the appellation’s most important vineyards, with around 35 hectares.  Judging by its slightly evolved appearance, its nice open bouquet of cherries and other red fruit complemented by floral touches and discreet oak, and then by its texture, it won’t be long before this wine is ready to be enjoyed. Supple and fat on entry to the palate, it reveals a lovely soft body, with flavours of kernels and almonds, underpinned by silky tannins. This wine will be at its best between 2019-2028.

Guide Hachette 2019, France

Château GARRAUD 2014 : 1 Star

The Nony family, originally from the Corrèze region, has owned Château Garraud, a leading wine estate in Lalande, since 1939. The vineyards of Treytins, straddling the Lalande and Montagne AOCs, were added to the property in 1997. Jean-Marc Nony, the grandson of the founder, Léon Nony, is at the helm today. This well-known wine looks very good with a strong colour promising good concentration. We love its very fresh, red fruit bouquet, complemented by a hint of chocolate, as we do its palate, which is fruity and liquoricy, solid and fresh, juicy and long. Undoubtedly has good cellar-ageing potential.

Guide Hachette 2018, September 2017, France

Château TREYTINS 2014, Montagne Saint-Emilion : 1 Star

The Nony family, originally from the Corrèze region, has owned Château Garraud, a leading wine estate in Lalande, since 1939. The vineyards of Treytins, straddling the Lalande and Montagne AOCs, were added to the property in 1997. Jean-Marc Nony, the grandson of the founder, Léon Nony, is at the helm today. After a long 18 months’ ageing in vat, the fruit really comes through in this pleasant Montagne, the result of the Merlot and the two Cabernets planted in gravelly soil: aromas of red fruit (strawberries, raspberries) and black fruit (blackcurrants) dominate throughout and nicely complement the fresh palate, with silky, melted tannins.

Guide Hachette 2018, September 2017, France

This is very much what a lot of people around the world are looking for when they buy a Pomerol. The ripe plum fruit with a hint of vanilla and the full, round body are well supported by the powerful, dry tannins. If they were a little more polished on the finish, it would have scored higher. Better in 2020.

Château TREYTINS 2011, Lalande de Pomerol :

This merlot-dominated blend from the appellation next to Pomerol is a classic year after year. Ripe red fruits with underbrush and cedar tones are always present in the glass. An approachable and nicely crafted wine, as always.

Château GARRAUD 2012 : 1 Star

This Lalande blends 70% merlot with 30% cabernet (mostly cabernet franc) sourced from iron-rich clay ("crasse de fer") and gravel soils. Aged for one year in barrel, it feels very young: deep purple colour and a reticent nose delivering subtle toasted notes upon aeration (from the oak aging). Lovely full-bodied and round palate, with vanilla flavours and tannins that will soften with time.

The Nony family, originally from Correze, owns Ch. Garraud - a great Lalande value - since 1939 and Chateau Treytins - spread over the Lalande and Montagne AOCs - since 1997. Jean-Marc Nony, the grandson of the founder Leon, is the current owner. Although not as spectacular as the 2010, a Guide Hachette selection, the 2011 holds some nice features. The wine exhibits a dark, attractive color, expressive ripe fruit aromas, a dense and generous mouthfeel (prune spirit) held together by ripe tannins and a gentle freshness. A full-bodied and well-balanced wine.

Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, leather and game meld together in the 2013 Garraud. The flavors are broad, resonant and also a bit wild, yet all the elements fall into place nicely. There is no shortage of personnality here.

Château GARRAUD 2013 : Favourite – 14,5/20

Spices, toasted notes and black fruits on the round, supple, mouthwatering palate. Soft tannins, nice fruit.

L’ANCIEN 2010 : 86/100

Dark colour, lively highlights. The nose combines ripe fruits and quite intense oaky notes. Powerful palate, strong expression of its barrel ageing, still fairly bitter. Not ready yet. For connoisseurs.

Château GARRAUD 2010 : 86/100

Deep, bright red. Pure red and black berry fruits on the nose with echoes of blackcurrant, cherry and redcurrant. Full and generous on the palate, with lovely aroma replays. Rather rustic in style but harmonious.

Château TREYTINS 2010, Montagne Saint-Emilion : 86/100

Lovely dark colour, bright red highlights. Good depth of black fruits that develops slowly. Lovely texture, ripe tannins, and pure fruit flavours of blackcurrant leading to a delicately bitter, liquorice-tinged finish.
